Ever notice the way a lot of words within one particular category will share a lot of similarities? I'll give you an example, Robot names... Robotron, Monotron, Meckadroid, etc. Or web2.0 domain names, bodango, gizmodo, etc...

Words

Well I recently found a unique little website which functions as an online random word generator. One can choose what sort of words you want to generate, and FAKEWORD.COM will spit out pet names, baby names, band names, domain names, passwords, random bogus pseudo-words, or whatever suggestion you need.

I thought it was a bit funny, but FAKEWORD.COM actually contains a huge dictionary of words, names and part words, and combines them or twists them to generate a huge number of different things. It's all done in the background. You just click a button, and the results are displayed instantly. Want more words? - click again!

Most of the "generators" are name suggestions for different purposes (everything from Manga names to pets, robots, products etc), but it caters for all sorts of weird ideas too, including a "Markov chain", which generates pseudo words from slamming letters together randomly.

Where it really shines is generating modern catchy "web2.0" domain names. I've used other word generators before which either match up words like "blue" with "bird", etc, or the strictly abstract javascript generators which come up with words like mikiki, popoloo, etc. Fakewords domain name generator combines these methods and goes the extra mile by having a bias towards modern naming styles. Think Facebook, YouTube, Twitter etc. Incidentally, you can also check for domain name availability while you're there.

Another handy feature, and something I hand not thought of before, is the Lorem Ipsum generator, which generates a few paragraphs of latin words. Ideal for filling up your designs with unambiguous "dummy text" until you have the correct content. Great for graphic designers and web designers.

So next time you're stuck for a domain name for your ground breaking web2 product, or if you want some suggestions for a forum username, or a fantasy game character name, check out FAKEWORD.COM!
